Biography
Dr. Ralph Brückner has a strong interest for the interaction of chemistry with biological systems that has lead him through an exciting journey from Medicinal Chemistry to modern Hygiene. He has achieved his PHD at the university of Würzburg on the metabolic fate and neurotoxic behaviour of (14C)TaClo, an endogenously formed ß-carbolin. As post doc he moved to the research Center Jülich where he established one of the first hypenations of ion chromatography with mass spectrometry for the elucidation of Krebs-cyle metabolites in bacteria. From there he received a call to follow the new team of medicinal chemistry department of Boehringer Ingelheim in Vienna (Austria). As head of laboratory he was reponsible for PK/PD in the thrilling field of oncology for 8 years. Since 2016 he works within the HECOSOL GmbH as head of R&D on the development of antimicrobial surfaces in sensitive areas of the medical sector and the food industry. The intention is to reduce hospital acquired infection diseases by a permanent reduction of pathogenic germs.
